     Countries in the Horn of Africa have been vital for trade since the beginning of commerce itself. At first they have been an integral part of the Silk Road, however one event in history has rendered these countries paramount to international trade, it was the construction of the Suez Canal that facilitated a rapid increase in maritime traffic in this region.
