Since the spring of 2004, when Estonia became a member of the European Union, Estonia has demonstrated that it is an active and constructive partner and continues with these pragmatic policies in its further integration into the EU.[1]

Estonia sees the enlargement of the European Union as positive and necessary, since it is one of the EU key policies that facilitates the strengthening of peace, democracy and stability in Europe. Estonia is continuously supporting the enlargement policy and stands for strict and fair enlargement terms, and for achievement-based progress in the enlargement process.[2]
