The delegate of the Islamic Republic of Iran is delighted to participate in this conference in order to discuss the problem of discrimination and social exclusion in educational institutions.

There exists a widespread belief that women are not treated equally as men in Iran. In reality there are no restrictions on female primary or secondary education – and at university level, women now comprise the majority of students.
