The political situation in Venezuela has reached the height of instability, as opposition leader Juan Guaido swore himself as interim president in January 2019. This is amidst backlash against Nicolas Maduro, whose elections in the 2018 were considered illegitimate. Furthermore, the humanitarian issue continues to deteriorate further- with severe food shortages and staggering hyperinflation. This has prompted a mass exodus of venezuelans, intensifying relations with neighbouring countries.
