The topic before the ECOSOC – Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ-B) is the rule of Law, crime prevention and criminal justice. Japan recognizes the importance of the topic and ensure its contribution on the discussion of the issue.

I. Protection of human Rights and Measures to Prevent Transnational Organized Crime

United Nations recognized the importance of the rule of law, crime prevention and criminal justice to protect human rights, to achieve sustainable peace and to prevent crime acts and conflicts. Effective governance, peace and human rights are basis for sustainable development for all. In 1970 Japan hosted the 4th congress on crime prevention and criminal justice, and also the 14th congress will be held in Japan. On 25 September 2015, 193 Member State agreed on the creation of a new agenda of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which include to protect our planet, to end up with poverty and the prosperity for every person. The SDGs global indicator framework agreed on the 48th session of the United Nations Statistical Commission held in March 2017 and adopted on July 2017 by the General Assembly.
