Throughout the globe, the majority of nation-states have retained the same justice system that they have always had. The retainment of these systems has led to gross overspending of money that mostly focuses on punishing criminals for their crimes, rather than teaching them and providing them with resources that can help them change their lives. Nation-states spend hundreds of billions of dollars on their current justice system. These large sums of money could go into helping the inmates instead. The Republic of Rwanda pledges to restore its justice system into a restorative justice system.
