The United Nations has been working to prevent discrimination, and has passed the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. However, discrimination continues to exist today, despite efforts all around the world to combat it. Discrimination is defined as “the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex.” But the difficult thing about solving such a complex issue such as discrimination is that it is very difficult to statistically quantify it, leading to many people not believing or not wanting to believe that such issues exist. For example, take an issue such as sexism. Many people believe that sexism is a issue of the past, and that the world is now equal in terms of gender.
