South Africa remains resolute in its belief that forestry is vital in a country’s socio-economic and political development. However, this sector is threatened by degradation through deforestation, among other human interactions that damage the nation’s forests. The degradation is normally caused by agricultural activities, logging and urbanization which can later cause soil erosion, an increase in global warming and wildlife extinction.
