Changing Population Demographics and Sustainable Development

 With relentless effort, global society has made astonishing developments, especially in reducing poverty and the mortality rate. With advancement in health sectors, global life expectancy increased from 65 in 1990 to 71 in 2015. A longer and better life is proof of the progress of mankind. However, this change has also brought a new demographic challenge for Member States. Due to increased life expectancy and reduced mortality rates, societies are required to develop a larger capacity to cope with an increasing number of people and their needs.
