Topic: Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender quality and the empowerment of women and girls
The empowerment of women and girls, can be mainly solved by provide access to public services, building social protection systems and sustainable infrastructure, remains relevant and important to the development of United Kingdom (hereinafter called UK). The global gender gap report and the gender inequality index introduced by United Nations Development Program (UNDP) convincingly shows that not only UK, but also the globe is in the face of serious situation on gender inequality. The delegate of UK would divide the whole issue into several aspects to present the country’s position and measures particularly.
(I.) Social protection systems in UK
According to UN women’ s research, women are over-represented among the 73 percent of the world’s population that has partial or no access to social protection, rendering them more vulnerable to poverty and other inequalities. The delegate of UK would like to solve the issue in these several ways.
I.Politics and Law
According to a data of UN County Stats and the UK parliament, UK has a relatively complete system to guarantee the political rights for women including but not limited to the right to vote and the right to be elected. But the legislation aim at child care in social protection systems and unpaid care work are still lacking.
