Organized by: The United Nations Association of Somalia (UNA-Somalia)
Tagline: Charting Somalia's Path to a Sustainable and Prosperous Future.
Conference Overview
The United Nations Association of Somalia is proud to present Blueprint for Prosperity, a premier Model United Nations conference dedicated exclusively to the sustainable development of Somalia and the Horn of Africa. This is not merely a simulation; it is an incubator for actionable ideas.
This conference brings together the brightest young minds from across the nation to engage in rigorous debate, collaborative problem-solving, and innovative policy design. Delegates will step into the roles of international diplomats and experts to tackle the most pressing challenges facing Somalia, from economic growth and environmental sustainability to social equity and resilient infrastructure. Our goal is to empower the next generation of Somali leaders to draft a tangible "blueprint" for lasting prosperity.
Core Committees and Agendas
Delegates will be assigned to one of the following committees, each focused on a critical pillar of sustainable development:
1. The UN Development Programme (UNDP) Committee
- Agenda: Levering Digital Economies for Inclusive Growth and Job Creation in Somalia.
- Focus: Delegates will explore policies for expanding digital infrastructure, fostering tech entrepreneurship (e.g., Somali Silicon Valley), creating digital literacy programs, and integrating digital solutions into traditional sectors like agriculture and commerce.
2. The UN Environment Assembly (UNEA) Committee
- Agenda: Addressing Climate Resilience: Combating Desertification and Managing Water Resources in the Horn of Africa.
- Focus: This committee will debate solutions for soil erosion, sustainable agriculture (rainwater harvesting, drip irrigation), reforestation projects, and developing early-warning systems for droughts and floods.
3. The World Health Organization (WHO) Committee
- Agenda: Building Resilient and Equitable Health Systems in a Post-Conflict Context.
- Focus: Delegates will tackle issues of healthcare accessibility, disease eradication, mental health support, nutrition security, and strategies for strengthening primary healthcare infrastructure at the community level.
4. The Security Council (Historical Crisis Committee)
- Agenda: *The Security and Humanitarian Nexus: Ensuring Stability for Development in Somalia (1992-1993).*
- Focus: Delegates will be thrust into a critical historical moment, managing the complex interplay between military intervention, humanitarian aid delivery, and political reconciliation during Operation Restore Hope. This crisis will test their ability to respond under pressure.
Conference Features
- Expert-Led Briefings: Keynote addresses and Q&A sessions with real-world development practitioners, economists, environmental scientists, and public health experts from Somalia and international organizations.
- Skills Development Workshops:
- "From Policy to Proposal: Writing Grant-Winning Project Briefs"

The Final Product: The Blueprint
The culmination of the conference will be the creation of a collaborative document: "The Blueprint for Prosperity: A Youth Policy Framework for Sustainable Development in Somalia."
This document will compile the most innovative and feasible resolutions from each committee into a single, cohesive report. It will be formally presented to representatives from the Somali government, international NGOs, and UN agencies, ensuring the voices of the youth contribute to the national dialogue on development.
