ChessMUN – Conference Description
Welcome to ChessMUN, an online Model United Nations conference designed for both beginners and experienced delegates who want to improve their skills, build confidence, and take part in a supportive and educational debating environment.

“Learning by Mistakes”
At ChessMUN, mistakes are treated as part of the learning process. Delegates are encouraged to speak, try ideas, and develop diplomatic skills through active participation, feedback, and experience. The goal is improvement, not perfection.

Committees
United Nations Security Council (Expert Level)
This committee focuses on maintaining international peace and security. Delegates will debate high-level issues such as the ongoing war in Ukraine, cyberwarfare, hybrid threats, and global crisis management. Fast thinking, diplomacy, and strong negotiation skills are required.
Arctic Council (Intermediate Level)
This committee focuses on Arctic governance, environmental protection, and regional security. Delegates will discuss climate change, resource competition, and geopolitical tensions in the Arctic region, balancing cooperation and national interests.
Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC – Intermediate Level)
ECOSOC deals with global economic and social issues. Topics include post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, global food and energy crises, and reducing economic inequality through international cooperation and development policies.
Military Council (Beginner Level)
This committee introduces delegates to basic international crisis management. Topics include humanitarian aid delivery, civilian protection during conflicts, and coordination of international peacekeeping operations in war zones.
United Nations General Assembly (General Debate – Mixed Level)
The General Assembly is the main global forum for discussion between all UN member states. Delegates will debate broad global issues such as international stability, conflict prevention, refugee crises, and global cooperation in a diplomatic setting.
United Nations Human Rights Council (Intermediate Level)
This committee focuses on human rights protection worldwide. Delegates will address war crimes, refugee rights, civilian protection in conflict zones, and accountability for human rights violations.
UNESCO (Intermediate Level)
UNESCO focuses on education, science, and cultural heritage. Delegates will discuss protection of cultural sites, access to education during war, and rebuilding cultural identity in post-conflict regions.
World Health Organization (WHO Committee – Intermediate Level)
This committee deals with global health crises. Topics include healthcare access in war zones, protection of hospitals and medical staff, and health support for displaced populations and refugees.

Conference Details
- Format: Online
- Duration: One day (usually Saturday)
- Participants: ~150+ delegates
- Applications: Open for both delegates and chairs until a few days before the conference
